Between September 13 and 15, 2025, Sabah, Malaysia, experienced severe flooding and landslides due to continuous heavy rainfall. The disaster resulted in at least 12 confirmed fatalities, including 11 from landslides and one from a collapsed transmission tower. The most devastating incident occurred in Kampung Cenderakasih, Inanam, where seven individuals, including four children aged between two and nine, were killed when a landslide buried several houses . In Papar, another landslide struck Kampung Mook, resulting in the deaths of a 38-year-old woman and her 11-year-old son .

The flooding and landslides have displaced hundreds of residents across several districts. As of September 14, 396 individuals from 124 families were evacuated, with the majority from Penampang and Beaufort . The floods have also caused significant infrastructure damage, including the collapse of a transmission tower in Penampang, which left approximately 230,000 people without electricity . In response, the Malaysian government has allocated RM21 million in emergency aid to support rescue and relief efforts .

Rescue operations are ongoing, with personnel from the Fire and Rescue Department, K9 Unit, and Storm Rescue Team continuing search efforts in the worst-hit areas . The state government has also directed all agencies involved in the ongoing search and rescue operation to fully prioritize locating and extracting landslide victims and rescuing those affected by widespread flooding in Sabah . The situation remains critical, and authorities continue to monitor weather conditions and coordinate relief efforts to assist affected communities.
