Between September 5 and 14, 2025, Telangana experienced severe flooding due to continuous heavy monsoon rains, resulting in significant loss of life and widespread damage. As of September 15, the death toll had risen to 36, with 21 fatalities reported during this period alone. The heaviest rainfall was recorded in Narayanraopet, Siddipet district, with 242 mm in 24 hours. Other affected districts included Khammam, Medak, and Jayashankar Bhupalpally, where flash floods and landslides led to the collapse of homes, submerged roads, and disrupted daily life .

In response to the crisis, the Telangana government released ₹200 crore for immediate relief and restoration efforts, focusing on repairing damaged infrastructure such as roads, bridges, and electricity supply. Additionally, ₹10 crore was allocated to each of the six severely affected districts, while 15 SDRF teams, seven NDRF teams, and approximately 100 army personnel were mobilized for rescue operations . The state government has also sought central assistance amounting to ₹16,732 crore for comprehensive flood relief and rehabilitation efforts .

Despite ongoing relief operations, challenges persist due to the continued rainfall and subsequent flooding. Authorities have urged residents to avoid flood-prone areas and remain vigilant as rescue teams continue their efforts. The situation underscores the need for enhanced infrastructure and preparedness to mitigate the impact of such extreme weather events in the future .
